Next Level Mindfulness Course

I have recently completed the 4 week Mindfulness Introductory Course with Neil Shepherd and Mindfulness Works. I decided to do it because I use mindfulness in my work as a psychologist with parents, children and families but wanted to build my own practice.

When Neil asked what were 2 words that described my goals I said “peace and productivity” as I had also been feeling rushed and particularly unproductive recently.

I found each week really informative and enjoyed each of the mindful exercises. I used the sound cloud exercises daily and am still using the Calm app. I managed to practice daily for about 12 minutes or so.

After about 2 weeks I really noticed my mood being much improved – I felt moments of happiness that I hadn’t felt for ages. I also noticed that even the more difficult tasks that I needed to do were much easier then before. I procrastinated less and found complex tasks much more manageable.

I was so happy to have done the course. I was really pleased that it was done from a secular point of view and was really up to date in terms of neuroscience and brain research.

I now am so much more aware of the benefits of a daily mindfulness practice and can thus support my clients more effectively in this way.

I have noticed more recently that my whole household (including husband and 2 teenagers) are much calmer too – bonus!

Introduction to Mindfulness Course

My experience with both the mindfulness introduction course and then your advance course has been life changing to say the least.

Not only have a learnt so much about the scientific evidence that supports mindfulness I have gain so much inner insight and inspiration. Most of all I have become happier more accepting person.

Neil Shepherd is a wonderfully caring teacher that explains the course in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable and included.

I have become a noticeably calmer person, my sleep has improved dramatically and I have changed the way I interact with my thoughts on a daily basis. Just being able to have the knowledge and understanding of how powerful our mind is and how with practice we can learn to accept, realise and grow has been worth its weight in gold.

Neil’s calm and experienced approach is what I needed to develop a daily meditation practice and the life-enriching self awareness it brings.

Next Level Mindfulness Course

I had tried mindfulness and meditation techniques on my own in the past and had seen some benefit, but doing the course with Neil in person was a thousand times more impactful and useful. I have a variety of significant challenges to face on a day to day basis and have found myself facing a sense of hopelessness and even panic in the past. I am a very strong person and have tried to ‘push through’ and ‘soldier on’, even while understanding that these are not useful – or even possible – long term strategies.

Doing the course with Neil has encouraged me to look at my limiting self-beliefs and challenge why I do some of the things I do. It has taught me some really useful coping techniques. It has also taught me that it is actually really simple to make immediate changes for the better. I have felt a real sense of hope and possibility as a result of these four sessions and will most definitely be continuing with the practice and with the study of mindfulness. Next Level Mindfulness Course

For my 83rd birthday my daughter bought me a 4 week course on mindfulness. I approached it not having a clue what it meant. I received a full-sized book which helped me to understand a little of what it was about.

For years I have been waking up at 3am and my mind has been inventing not-so-nice problems, almost nightmares. I dream up impossible situations day and night.

At the end of the first session, that night I woke up with the start of disturbing thoughts, but had learned that I could think of happier things, and went promptly back to sleep, waking up at my usual time around 6am.

I had done a relaxation course years ago, but what Neil explained was the reason these dreams happened. And I found a way to get rid of them when they occur.

If you attend this course, and have a problem, Neil will answer, and the class and you will benefit.

That, as it turns out, was probably the best birthday present I have had in years. Thanks Neil.

Next Level Mindfulness Course

I can highly recommend Neil Shepherd from Inner Synergy for his Mindfulness Meditation classes.

The effect of practising mindfulness, becoming aware of one’s thoughts and choosing to change them, has definitely kicked in. I am having more and more days where, despite no change to my external circumstances, I find myself calmer and more upbeat.

I had almost two weeks of a major health issue that had me see the emergency department and a doctor several times. My new mindfulness is helping me deal with the shortcomings of an overloaded health system and the resulting frustration. It’s OK not to be OK!

Another positive effect is a shift in my judgement, that seems to come more and more naturally. A friend was telling me about a challenging situation she was dealing with. In the past I might have said that the other person involved was a nutter, loser or the like and now I find myself thinking and saying how their wiring is just different and may not see situations in a similar way.

Feels much better. And I have not even mentioned the meditation!

Next Level Mindfulness Course

Grief does many terrible things to you. The loss of your spouse is not just sad, it’s also quite terrifying, because you’ve lost half of you.

My experience was a whole gamut of reactions: overwhelming heartbreak, role stress and strain from now having to raise our two young children (who were also grieving) alone, feelings of extreme isolation, the loss of confidence, and fear and anxiety about our livelihood and finances.

I also fell into very poor sleeping habits – I was exhausted when I hopped into bed, but then my brain would kick in – such a busy brain, going over everything of that day or the week or even month before, and it all became so magnified. I’d have a racing, pounding heart in the middle of so many nights.

The first night of the course, I felt calmer after the guided meditation, and came home feeling ‘lighter’. I did the body scan as I lay in bed, and then, I actually slept through for the first time in months, and felt truly refreshed in the morning. The next night I fell asleep before I completed the body scan, and again, I slept through.

I was doing the exercises during the day, and each evening, I’d feel calmer. And I fell asleep each night before I completed my body scan.

The classes each week helped me develop strategies to overcome my blocks to mindfulness, and hearing how the other participants overcame their issues was helpful. And it’s good to be a part of a group that works together for each other.

I no longer have a busy brain keeping me awake, I’m more relaxed and focused during the day, life doesn’t feel so overwhelming, and I just feel like I’m in a much better place now. The course has given me the space to address other aspects of my health and fitness I’d ignored since my husband had died. My kids can see how much better I am, and so they now feel more confident too.

The mindfulness course has been life-changing for me.

Next Level Mindfulness Course

Neil’s passion for mindfulness is contagious. My husband and I decided to make Neil’s evening sessions our ‘weekly date nights’: something new we could do and enjoy together. Like many other people with family overseas, we have lived in 2 time zones since COVID-19 hit. I recently completed the Inner Synergy 5-week Next Level Mindfulness evening course and found it extremely interesting and useful. Neil is an excellent facilitator, explaining things clearly, answering questions and giving good examples to help students understand the concepts. He included practical mindfulness exercises/meditations each week that I really enjoyed, with plenty of options to suit different preferences. His voice is extremely calming and I found I could easily follow the exercises and relax, despite usually struggling to switch off.
